Sunset Sunday-The Balcony Sunsets at the RIU Hotel in Mazatlán

During Mazatlán Carnaval I stayed at the RIU Hotel located north of the Golden Zone. The hotel, an all-inclusive right on the beach, provided amazing views of the sunset right from the in-room balcony. Of the six nights at the hotel I watched the sunset from the fifth floor twice. I enjoyed them both.

Friday Mazatlán Carnaval Sunset

After a day trip to Las Labradas to view the petroglyphs we returned to the hotel to rest before the evening activities. I prepared for a Mazatlán sunset. And with a clear night and a calm sea I also believed I might once again witness a Green Flash. And although the Green Flash did not materialize, I did enjoy a little Vitamin T (a Tecate beer) from the minibar on the balcony and prepped for the night ahead – Friday night at Carnaval.

Fat Tuesday Mazatlán Carnaval Sunset

Then on my final night of my first Mazatlan Carnaval adventure (Fat Tuesday) I found myself on the balcony of the RIU hotel at Sunset once again. I was reflecting on all the magic of Carnaval and also thinking of all the sunsets I’ve been fortunate enough to witness in Mazatlán. I wondered if Mazatlán would show me another one to remember. She (or it) did.
