Sunset Sunday-A Sunset at the Residents’ Beach Club in Punta Mita

We boarded the golf cart to head immediately to the hole nicknamed, “Tail of the Whale.” The optional par 3, a natural-island green on the Punta Mita resort’s Pacifico Course allows players to hit the ball over the dramatic blue sea of Banderas Bay. My goal was simple – to land the green before watching a Riviera Nayarit Sunset.

I arrived at the hole with the local course pro and a caravan of on-lookers, all wondering how many balls it might take me to find the green; the pro took 18 with him, but I only needed one. After a little instruction, I concentrated with visualization and impressed everyone (including myself) by hitting the green with a single stroke. I selected a 5-wood and cleared the 199 yards to leave it just 12 feet from the pin. An amazing shot.

The type of moment perfect for Mexico’s new  Live It To Believe It promotion. After such a moment (15 second video clip here: An adventure at the Tail of the Whale in Punta Mita) I knew the sunset would be spectacular too. It was my day.

This made the 2014 Sunset Sunday Calendar for July

We boarded the golf carts again after returning to the club house and took a rather spirited ride to the Residences’ Beach Club to make sure we arrived in time for the sunset. As we entered, I saw the sun directly between the two umbrellas with a reflection on the pool. I stopped and took out my camera to capture the moment. Majestic. It’s a golf shot I’ll never forget and then a splendid sunset. A great evening Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit. In fact, I enjoyed the moment and the sunset so much I decided to place the image in my Sunset Sunday Calendar for July.  Happy Sunset Sunday.

Stay adventurous, Craig

I’m looking forward to seeing shots like this in the calendar. Now if I can just figure out where to place it: home or office.
