The Cancun Spring Break Sunrise Surprise

Cancun is not known for its sunsets. Make no mistake, I am not saying you can’t enjoy the golden hour on the beach or appreciate nature’s beautiful display in the sky when visiting Cancun, Mexico – you can. In fact, one of the more popular sunsets from my guest post series is from Cancun – Nichupte Lagoon, Cancun, Mexico.

However, as we all know, the sun sets in the west and Cancun is on the eastern coast of Mexico. It’s geography. You will not see it dip into the Gulf of Mexico, but you can appreciate a sunrise. In Riviera Maya, I woke up early once and actually did watch a sunrise in Tulum. Many visitors to the Riviera Maya, whether Cancun, Tulum, or elsewhere along the Mexican coast start their day with a real sunrise not (solely) a Tequila Sunrise. Yet, for those not interested in setting an alarm to wake up ealr,y there is another option – staying up all night.

a little blurry.... well, that makes sense?

On my most recent escapade to Cancun I did just that. An all-nighter. After a tequila fueled evening I returned to my room at the CasaMagna Marriott and enjoyed a sunrise moment from my balcony. I called it my tequila (induced) sunrise. Well, it was Spring Break in Cancun after all.

So for all of you fiesta focused, enjoy this week’s switch-up and let’s appreciate a Sunrise Sunday from Cancun this week. Happy Sunset and Sunrise Sunday.

Stay adventurous, Craig

There is nothing more satisfying in Cancun then pulling an all-nighter and seeing the sun come up.. one place worth checking out at sunrise is Chichen Izta, there is something breathtaking about being out there early….http://bit.ly/1kddfY2
