The Balinese Legong Dance from Ubud, Bali

People travel to be educated, others to be entertained, and some to be enlightened. And regardless of which of the three you gravitate towards, on a trip to Bali, plan to visit Ubud. And plan to see the Balinese Legong dance.

Of the dozen forms, the glancing eyes and unique hand movements of ladies who dance Legong remains the must see. Rigid choreography and constant bells tell of island’s past and of its Gods. It’s colorful, loud, yet romantic.

Powerful performances can be found almost nightly in Ubud and the dance makes for a perfect memory. It can be a great souvenir from the Indonesian island of Bali. My advice, go be educated, entertained or even enlightened and see a show.

Mack, between the colorful costumes, the rigid movements, and the bells, it is quite a spectacle to watch. Hopefully you get the chance some day.
