How to Find a Low-Cost Cruise

A cruise can represent great value for money. Just think about it – on a standard week-long cruise you could stop at four or five different destinations, maybe even more, and have time to explore each of them under your own steam or as part of organised tours. Back on board, you’ll have the use of a comfortable cabin and, in most cases, 24-hour dining and stacks of first-class leisure facilities at your disposal. Talk about a great value holiday.

But let’s face it, we’re all feeling the pinch and there comes a time when even great value holidays need to come down in price a little further. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to find a low-cost cruise holiday, and it doesn’t mean you have to compromise on value.

Search the Market

The best way to get a broad market view is to search via a travel agent like Cruise Thomas Cook. When you’re searching for a cheap cruise with Thomas Cook you’ll be able to look for holidays across all the major cruise operators, and then whittle down your options depending on what matters to you most – be it price, departure date, destination, or duration. This is a great way to compare holidays and make sure you’re getting what you want at a price you can afford.

Late Deals

As with any package holiday, cruises are eligible for last-minute discounts. You’ll often find that many cruise holidays have been reduced in price approximately four or six weeks prior to the departure date, which is a great time to snap up a bargain.

Early Bird Deals

One of the best ways to secure a good deal and to help manage your booking is to reserve your holiday as far in advance as possible. Not only will you get the lion’s share of choice, you will also have longer to pay off the cost of your trip, potentially in installments, and you may also qualify for early bird booking discounts too. What’s more, you’ll have extra time to save some spending money for your trip. Perfect!

Good suggestions. Another way to find a good deal is to take a repositioning cruise. At the end of their season, the ships move to a new location. Very often you can get a good deal with less crowded ports but you do take a chance with the weather.

Maryann, yes, that is a great way too, thanks for sharing it. Also, as I understand it sometimes they offer alcohol specials on such cruises too… makes for a party. stay cruising, Craig
