Postcard – The Beijing Commute

a commute through Beijing Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City via a taxi.

Mao is always there looking at the people of China....

When I traveled to Beijing, China for work more than a few years back, my commute to the office traveled straight through Tiananmen Square. Every morning I passed the Forbidden City.  It was one of my favorite moments of the day and one morning I took my camera.

But what may have been more impressive then saying hello to Mao every morning was that even in -10 degree temperatures people still rode their bicycles. It was so bitterly cold. And although the off-season helps with crowds at the Summer Palace and also a visit to the Great Wall of China, make sure you dress for it.
