La Puntilla on the Mazatlán Waterfront

the restaurant from the water...

Just across from the sands of Stone Island lunch is served. Outside on an open air deck, La Puntilla patrons enjoy not just the views of the passing cruise ships, ferries to La Paz, and cargo ships, but good quality seafood.

an english menu too

One Saturday afternoon as part of a table of eight, I noticed big parties were the norm at the restaurant. The larger groups, families and friends provided a  festive atmosphere. In a place far away from the more touristy, Golden Zone (Zona Dorada), it was a weekend on the waterfront. And La Puntilla was a place locals came to enjoy seafood and afternoon cervezas.

We order appetizers for the table and I was introduced to “fresh” scallops by the plate with a little spicy sauce. Actually much of the seafood appetizers came out extremely fresh – raw in fact. I sipped my cerveza entertained a few bites and waited for my shrimp tacos. The shrimp Mazatlán is famous for and the tacos Mexico is famous seemed to be a good choice. It was.

Tip:

a man waits for the ferry crossing to Stone Island

All inclusive boat tours to Stone Island leave directly from the pier at La Puntilla, other smaller ferries leave just around the corner for a few pesos.

Stay Adventurous, Craig
