Product Review: The H2O Audio TRI2 with Playlist+
After recently reviewing the impressive H2O Audio Rift Ultra, I also received a H2O Audio TRI2 with Playlist+ to also sample. It was what first interested me in H2O since I am s someone who swims laps during breaks from my work as a local lifeguard. I’m always looking for dependable, waterproof audio solutions to inspire me to swim more laps and the TRI2 promised exactly that.
Like many of my gear reviews on StayAdventurous.com, I break things down into four parts about the product. It is: something I like, something I love, something else I love, and something to be aware of.
Let’s dive in.
Something I Like: The Fit, Feel & Packaging
The TRI2 immediately delivers a premium first impression. The packaging is clean and purposeful—no clutter, no gimmicks—and the product inside matches that same thoughtful design.
When swimming laps between lifeguarding shifts, the comfortable fit is essential. The lightweight frame sits securely around the head, never budging during turns or push-offs. It’s exactly the kind of stability needed for pool training and equally comfortable on land for a walk or run.
Something I Love: Playlist+ A Game Changer for Swimmers
What truly sets the TRI2 apart is Playlist+ There is no Bluetooth dropout. No complicated setups. No frustration.
You preload your music, hit the water, and your personal playlist is right there—consistent, dependable, and uninterrupted. It feels just like old times and since lap swimming, is monotonous and sessions are focused, having reliable, underwater-ready music makes a massive difference. It adds rhythm, energy, and a little extra motivation to each pool length. We all know how beneficial swimming can be to our health.
Something Else I Love: Battery Life & All-Around Versatility
I appreciate a device I don’t have to constantly recharge. The TRI2 offers excellent battery life, lasting multiple swims and a few land workouts before needing a power boost.
But the versatility is what truly impresses me.
Once I finish my lap set, I can step out of the water and continue listening as I cool down, walk around the property. These headphones even work if you want to go for a run. No other device. No pairing new headphones. The TRI2 handles water and land equally well.
That can be a big plus for those with an active lifestyle.
Something to Be Aware Of
The sound underwater—while clear—is naturally different than land-based listening, simply due to the physics of bone-conduction and waterproof audio. Sure the volume needs to be adjusted, but you also won’t get booming bass or studio-level detail. But you do get consistent, enjoyable, workout-ready sound, which is the priority for most swimmers.
Final Thoughts
The H2O Audio TRI2 with Playlist+ earns a top spot in my training gear. It’s comfortable, durable, long-lasting, and—most importantly—lets you enjoy your music underwater without interruption.
From lap swimming during a lifeguard break to afternoon walks along the Keys, the TRI2 keeps the
audio experience smooth and seamless. For anyone seeking a reliable swim/run combo device, this one checks all the boxes.
