The USA vs. England World Cup Tailgate at Rustenburg, South Africa

Obtaining a ticket for World Cup match of USA vs. England, was not just about patriotism or believing in the outcome, it was also about having something else I highly value – having fun. And what a great time it was, especially the tailgate.

We arrived five hours early; when Americans head to a stadium to watch “football” we tailgate. Food, beer, and whiskey filled the car with the iPod playlist set to only American artists as we sped across Africa from Pretoria to Rustenburg.

When we arrived, we parked in the assigned next to a souvenir selling car. We purchased additional USA gear, flags, and the coveted Vuvuzelas to mark the moment.

the vuvuzela funnel; it shocked many English fans...

many english stopped by too...

our stars and stripes...

Then just prior to the sunset in Rustenburg we waved our flags and made our way towards the buses to take us to the stadium. The tailgate ended but the memories will last a life time.

Cool! What a great experience! I’m a soccer nut and am always surprised at how few of us there are here in the U.S.
