Sunset Sunday – Kayak in the Keys

Kayak. If you ever picked up a paddle and stroked the water to propel yourself forward to explore, then you know.

You know that some of the best memories of your travels come from the adventures afloat. Whether the stillness of nature, the rapids of a river, or the majesty of nature that surrounds, you witness some of the best earth offers from your seat in a Kayak.

In my life I consider myself fortunate for these moments. Grateful for all the places I explored in a kayak. From the caves of Thailand to the cenotes of Mexico, the coast of Maine to sunrise on a lake in Ohio, a peaceful paddle in Pennsylvania to a magical moment in the mangroves of the Florida Keys. So many memories, so many adventures.

…a kayak in the keys

Upper Matacumbe Key

And this Sunset Sunday I’d like to leave you with the image I captured as I just exited the back country in the upper Florida Keys.  Here I faced the vast ocean with a setting sun, truly a memorable kayak thru the Florida Keys.

Happy Sunset Sunday.

stay adventurous, Craig

I can’t help but think I am looking at a scene out of an Asian story…the man in the boat w/ the hat. That aside, or perhaps in part because of that mystery, this is an amazing image. You were right, one of your best.

And yes, it is true – that so much wonder can be experienced from the seat of a kayak! 😉

Yes, I totally agree; it does seem as if it could be a scene from an adventure had in the East….hmm, perhaps a sign of the future.

      stay adventurous,

Craig, I have to agree with Kirsten…I would have never pictured that as from the Keys…it has a certain mystic quality about it– a stillness and a rippling calm. It also seems more of a sunrise too. So many aspects of this picture give it power — a truly memorable shot.
